RequirementsSplashback requires Excel on the Web, Excel on Windows (Version 2008 or later) or Excel on Mac (16.40 or later). It also requires a stable internet connection, and a valid Microsoft Office licence.
Standalone runtime
There is a Standalone add-in runtime coming soon which removes the need for Excel and provides opportunities to circumvent complex organizational deployments.

Clear add-in cacheOccasionally, major Splashback releases may cause incompatibilities with old add-in versions.
Due to the way that Microsoft Excel on Windows and macOS caches add-ins, we have little control when you will receive the latest version of our add-in. To circumvent this, it is possible to manually clear your add-in cache, which will cause Microsoft Excel to load the latest version of our add-in when it is next launched.
- Windows
- macOS
Follow the instructions on the Microsoft website, or see the steps below.
- Close all Microsoft Office applications.
- Open the File Explorer.
- Paste the following into the address bar:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Wef\
- Delete all files and folders in this directory.
- Launch Microsoft Excel, it should now reload the latest version of our add-in.
If you run into any problems, please get in touch. We know this process is annoying, but we sadly aren't the only add-in publishers to have this issue.
